Catnip Tea for Hair Growth – How to Use Catnip for Hair

Hair Teas are my favorite for conditioning, but also for hair mists, spritz’s, leave-ins and tonics. Here’s how I make my favorite catnip tea for hair growth. It’s so good it’s replaced my favorite deep conditioners (Aubrey Organics Blue Chamomile, Island Natural’s, and Honeysuckle Rose).

Catnip Benefits for Hair

  • moisturizes and conditions hair
  • prevents and treats split ends
  • adds volume and thickness
  • a natural astringent, it tones and tightens loose skin

Comfrey leaf

  • heals the scalp
  • helps generate new cell growth
  • speeds wound healing
  • works as a natural emollient for hair and skin
  • conditions hair

Hibiscus flowers

  • adds shine
  • gives hair body and volume
  • uplifts mood
  • increases the energy of unity, togetherness, peace, and happiness

I buy my ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs but you can find them anywhere. Catnip, comfrey leaf, and hibiscus are affordable and easy to find:)

Catnip Tea Hair Recipe

Moisturize, deeply condition, add shine and softness with this luscious catnip hair tea!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups hot water
  • 2 tablespoons dried catnip leaves
  • 1 tablespoon dried comfrey leaf
  • a small handful of hibiscus flowers (fresh or dried)

Instructions

1. Add ingredients to water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
2. Strain leaves from tea.
3. Use as a conditioning hair rinse. Allow it to sit on your hair for at least 10 minutes. Rinse and style. Test this recipe to see what your hair enjoys more. I like to leave the rinse in my hair and use it as a conditioning mist during the week. You may decide 10 minutes is all you need!

Notes

The heat from the water allows the essential oils to release from the catnip leaves. After 5 minutes you’ll be able to see this a little of this oil in the water. Add your favorite essential oils to give this tea a lavish boost. Ylang Ylang and the citrus oils go well (lime, bergamot, lemon, tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit).
